I got inspiration for my piece from my love of summer. I love all things tropical and aquatic and thought a pineapple would be perfect. The difficulties that I had with this piece is cutting out everything perfectly because there were so many pieces and so many colors. if I had to redo this project, I would make my piece more simple and with less colors.

My mentor was Emma who is now in AP art. We talked about our favorite projects and what mediums we enjoy working with best. What I find most interesting is that she wants to visit New Zealand and Australia one day and I have been there before and have a lot of family in both places.
The theme for our locker was the beach. Danielle and I were both inspired by summer and our love for the beach and ocean. It was pretty difficult working in a small area because we were limited on what we could put in the locker. The materials that we worked with included construction paper, sea shells, nuts, a mermaid Barbie, and sharpie.
for ink week, I chose to post my zentangle project. I found this project very relaxing and soothing. Zen matches this style due to all of the intricate but simple patterns. I got the idea of my designs from henna artwork. I am very fascinated with henna and wanted to include it in my work.
I found inspiration from the art of apex Pinterest account and this is the link: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/511862313870769068/
I chose to do colorful sharpies as my medium because I thought it would be a fun ink to work with. My piece is similar to my inspiration by all of the different colors in both pieces The most successful thing about my piece is all of the small patterns incorporated in it. I would change the size of it next time and make it more colorful if I could. The biggest difficulty that I had making the clay fish was painting him. I am not a very good painter and as shown in the photographs, I'm kinda messy and not all of the glaze was even. The biggest difficulty that I had making the styrofoam art was cutting. It is very easy to cut the wrong pieces or cut too much off so it took me several tries for this piece. we had the limit of 2 small styrofoam cups and we only got to use an x-acto blade and hot glue for this project.
This is my favorite picture of texture because it shows how dark and beautiful an object can be even though not many people even notice it.
Surrealism is a 20th century avant-garde movement in art and literature that sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind.
I took inspiration from this movement by finding very realistic things. Ariel is my favorite cartoon character and I thought it would be very interesting to draw the inside of her tail. I chose to morph an eye and a koi fish pond. I wanted to morph these two things because I am very inspired by the ocean and aquatic animals. I have a koi pond in my back yard and I wanted to draw it to show how beautiful it was. I think the most successful thing in my drawing were the color contrasts and how the blues and greens go very well with the black and white. The thing that I would change in the future would be to add more detail to the koi pond.
For this project, we had to use forced perspective. For these photos, we went around the school and thought of four different ways on how to use forced perspective. This has been one of my favorite projects so far because it shows that everything is not how it appears to be and it forces you to see things differently. |
