the mini project I chose to do was the book. I chose to do this because I figured I could use the book or give it as a present.
i love this piece because they made the killer whale so good. I'm drawn to this piece because it's under water theme and I love "arting" about ocean things. The thing I would change about this piece is the title. I would change the title to "captivity" because it shows how big the killer whale is and how small the tanks are. The medium they used is glass, glue and clay.
The most helpful warm up was the fading warm up because I used it a lot in my project. I decided to paint a shark because I grew up at the beach and I've always loved sea animals. sharks are one of my favorite animals and are one of the most beautiful creatures in the world. the thing I found difficult about this project was probably painting everything to how I wanted it because I kept making mistakes. the thing I would change in the future is maybe working more on my brush skills so I could paint better. the thing I found most successful about this project is how cute the shark turned out.
I believe the art criticism process is made up of 4 steps. Describe, Analyze, Interpret, and Evaluate. This process is very important and can be used with any piece of artwork. I did my portrait of my dog, Biggs, because he is my best friend and I couldn't imagine my life without him. For my project, I used a stop motion video. I chose this medium because I believe photography/video is one of the most beautiful forms of art. I could not upload the video on my blog but it will be shown in class. The process for creating this piece was kinda stressful but not too bad. I would definitely do this again but with a different theme. I enjoy working with others on most projects, but for this one, I would have rathered worked by myself. For this piece, I feel like we should have added more objects and less tissue paper. The theme for our piece was destination. We added blues and purples in our piece along with feathers and pieces of maps and animal prints.
I was inspired by the Art of Apex Pinterest account from the water color board and the children's book "Rainbow Fish". This is the link to the piece I was inspired by: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/320529698452129184/
I chose to do this piece in watercolor, colored pencils and aluminum foil because I really enjoy working with them and I think it does really well with the aquatic theme. My piece is similar to my inspiration by using Elmer's glue to outline my drawing but I made it my own by using a fish. I believe the most successful thing about my piece is how different and unique he is from most pieces. The thing I might change in the future is making the glue thinner but taller so it could show more detail and be able to put more water color in the scales. |
